Sheet Metal Walls

Yesterday I got to go to lunch with Kayla, so today I called Austin to see if he wanted to go to lunch.  I was worried he wouldn't be free, but he was.  Kayla called as I was leaving so she joined us and I picked her up at Target.  We ate at a burger joint that had a good burger and great onion rings and fries.  I will have to take Ken in there for the onion rings in July.
Austin has decided on a builder, a lot, and a floor plan.  After we ate we went looked at his lot and looked at the model home which is the one he wants with some exceptions.  It is so exciting!
Sheet metal down the halls in the school.
This morning I got to go to Oran's school for the hat parade.  The K classes decorated hats with compound words on them while other grades did seasons, adjectives, holidays, etc.  Then I got to see Oran's room and meet his teacher.  It is a new school and really well thought out.  My favorite part was that you could not go into the school unless you went through the office.  Much safer for the students and teachers.  Since I was threatened twice this year I think about that more.  Another thing I really like is how they did the halls. Some places had letters like in the pictures and others had work displayed.  I think it would help keep the walls cleaner.
Thursday morning I will take Mack to daycare and drop Oran off at school.  I will go back to the house and pack up.  Then I will go back to Oran's school for his end of year activities, pick up Mack, and we will be off to OK.  I will be glad to be back home.

At The Asylum Today

Sara and I got the boys off to daycare and school.  Then she worked from home and I did some stuff on the computer watching the clock for the opening time for the quilt asylum.  My favorite quilting store.  Then I was off to Target and then I met Kayla at the Asylum.  We shopped separate, consulted each other, and eventually we were ready to check out.  I bought some fabric to make Macie Jane a throw for her birthday with owls on it.  All in pinks, oranges, and yellows.
Kayla, Zach and I went to lunch in downtown McKinney at a sandwich shop.  Kayla was really jazzed by her trip to Africa.  She brought me back a purple bowl.  She bought several pieces of fabric back some with an idea of how. she will use it and others not so much.  Kayla looks wonderful she had a much easier trip this time - she didn't get sick.  She made new friends and renewed others.
I picked up the boys and got them dinner and now they are in bed.  Sara has them packed to go back to OK with me and is working on packing them for their trip.
I decided on the last day of school I would give up diet coke.  I haven't had one since May 18th.  I finished my antibiotic on Sunday, but I am not sure it has done a great job clearing me up.  I am still coughing.  Sometimes it is so rough I think I will throw up.  We will see.
My sister texted me from the Eiffel Tower this morning.  Kind of felt like she was rubbing it in.  Mom will be at the house on Friday.  I can't wait!  Ken's birthday is Thursday and our 18th  anniversary is Friday.  He is my rock!  I truly know that God blessed us.

Parents Are Home

The kids and I had a fairly uneventful day.  We left about 1:00 to go out to McDonald's for lunch.  The kids ate and then they played.  I gave them a 5 minute warning and they were very good when I told them let's go.  We got back to the house and shortly after that Kenny and Sara got home.  The boys were happy to see them.
Kenny grilled some corn on the cob that was delish.  They brought some smoked brisket and ribs home from the lake and we ate outside on the patio.  It was delightful!  The boys played a bit and then it was time for bath and bed.  Then we had a chance to talk a bit about life in general.
I talked to Ken several times today.  He sounds like he is feeling better.  Glad to hear because I would hate for him to be sick when I get back on Thursday.  Now, it isn't what you are thinking it isn't that I don't want him to be sick when I get there it is because Thursday is his birthday.  WooHoo!

Tired Boy

I have had some busy days with the Abel grandsons!  These boys are 6 and 4 and they are full of get up and go!  We are up playing outside when they get hot we come in and cool off working a couple of puzzles or playing a game then they watch some kids shows.  By then it is time to eat again.  Then we start activities all over again with cool down time.  Then trying to keep the house as clean as we found it.  Last night we went to eat at McD's came home got baths and went out fast.  They were tired.  Tonight after dinner the plan was to take a walk to the park and play so we would have a repeat of last night.  Not so lucky.  The younger boy was tired and acted out at the park, so we left.  Sadly, I had to carry him.  It seemed like a really long walk carrying a screaming kicking 4 year old.  My arm is still hurting from it.  Feels sore.  We got home he cried and tried to get out of the house and I had to carry him upstairs.  The older son and I read his book of choice and ignored the carrying on of the other.  He finally saw things our way and had his pj's on before the end of the story.  I let him pick a story (thankfully it was a very short book) and then we turned out the light and he was out pretty fast.  The older son was not ready so I let him come down and watch My Little Pony for the umpteenth time cuddling with me before he went back up to bed.  That was nice.  These two boys are real snugglers!
I am missing Ken.  The day I left he started getting sick.  He even went to the doctor.  I hate to be away from him, but I am not sure I could of done anything for him.  He did sound better today.

Justice

I have been a very busy grandma!  I helped get the kids ready for school and Macie Jane's kindergarten graduation this morning.  We went to school, watched graduation, and then Macie Jane and I spent the day together.  She was a bit sad because her mama wasn't there, her daddy needed to go back to work, and Uncle Duane was going to OK.  So what is a grandma to do?  We went to the mall!  Macie Jane enjoyed a splurge at her favorite store Justice.  She knew exactly what articles of clothing she felt she needed.
We ate lunch at her favorite restaurant Chic Fil A.  Then we walked the mall.  Then we went to Aunt Sara and Uncle Kenny's so I could get okayed to pick up at the daycare.  We saw Mack for a couple of minutes.  Then I drove Macie Jane home, got my suitcase, went my the daycare to get Oran, and then watched the boys for a bit.  Sara got back from errands as I was putting them down for bed.Glad she came right then to shoe me the bedtime routine.
Then we talked and I have gone to bed.  I am tired.

Finished Bags

Here I am again.  I didn't get to an update yesterday so I am doing yesterday late and today early.  I was busy yesterday.  Rusty, the big red dog, and I walked for an hour.  He never did stop pulling on me and I am feeling it today!  He was doing all he could to pull me along and not step on his tongue.  We must of been a sight.  Then we went by the school so I could drop of some of the new batch of lotion I made to the 3custodians as a thank you.  Rusty was very excited because he thought he would get to run at school.  He was quickly sad that I wouldn't let him on the playground.  I got gas so the van was ready to go to Moore.  I got cleaned up and headed to Moore to have my machine looked at.  That took a while, but I didn't have to leave it.
I got back and took Ken to lunch at Billy Boys.  I love their salad.
Then I was off to get an oil change, which was really overdue.  I feel better about the van now.
When the computer crashed before Christmas I took it and they recovered almost all of my data.  Yea!  We got a new computer, but I haven't had time to do anything about all my Digital Scrapbook kits on the old computer, so I spent some time burning them to DVD's.  It is a laborious process.  Currently I am still doing that and I am on the second DVD.  I am going to go to Texas for a week and hope to have time to get the scrapbook done and possibly work on the yearbook for next year as well.  August will come sooner than I think and I can't stand the thought that I won't have it ready.
Finished tote bags for convention.
While I was burning the DVD I was also sewing on the bags for convention.  We hope to sell these at our booth along with the chances on the Made In OK basket and quilt.
Jane came by and looked at the bags and then Ken, Jane, and I went to eat.  When we left dinner I couldn't breathe.  I wish the antibiotics would kick this crap I have.
I have a busy day getting ready to go to Texas.  I am going to go grandmother for a week while kids go on vacation.  Yeah!  I just hope I can keep up!  Ha Ha !!

Busy Day

The flower bed I planted
Another glorious day of vacation!  I went to walk about 7:30 and it was in the 60's.  The wind was blowing enough that I was comfortable for the whole hour I walked.  Then I went to get flowers to plant a bed for Ken's birthday.  Then I weeded the bed and cultivated the ground.  Oh the bugs, sweat, and now I am hot!  I do not like gardening.  Ken wants the beds done but doesn't have time.  I wanted to do something special for him so. . .
Quilted quilt.
The mops etc will go in the slide opening.
Then the exciting part of my day.  Quilting!  I took the quilt for the sorority fund raiser over to Barbara and Mary Jane's and we got it quilted.  It doesn't have a binding on it yet, but it will before long.
Ken got home and did some work on the pantry.  He is designing as he goes.  The broom and mop storage is about done and he has the shelf in to hold the appliances that won't fit on the counter.  He is starting the can storage next.

Could'"t resist "The dog days of summer"

Ken made burgers for dinner with his dad.  His dad seemed kind of quiet tonight.  I am glad we see him on a regular basis.  He is such a feisty old man!
Then there is the big red dog who is enjoying me being home for his pleasure.  Out, in, out, etc.!

Doctor Appointment

Today is Monday and I didn't have to get up when the TV came on at 6 am.  But I did because I could!   It was raining so my plan to walk this morning was foiled.  So I went to Wallyworld early to get a few things.  40 items later I am out of there  Then I called and got a Dr. appt.  I have been having a nagging sore throat, pressure in the head, and ear hurting.
I got an antibiotic and two of my prescriptions refilled.  Since I have taken my antibiotic my nose and eyes have started running like crazy and I have been sneezing.
I got 12 canvas totes unsewn last night and today I got the design embroidered on 3 of them.  Slow going each one takes about thirty minutes to stitch plus the hooping time.  Nine more to go!
Thunder are up in the 3rd quarter.  I may have to go to bed before it is over.
Another bonus I went to the dentist and he didn't think there was a problem where the hygienist thought there was an issue.
I got an update today from the girls, Haley & Kayla, who are in Africa.  They are digging a hole through rock and the digging is slow, they are enjoying the kids, and somehow they locked themselves out of their room.  My prayers are with them.
So tired so it must be bedtime.

Birthday for Mack Today

The first day of summer vacation is here!  I was very relieved to leave school yesterday with several bags and projects in mind to get to over the summer.  Now my time is here.  I hope to do quite a bit of sewing, organizing, reading, crafting, hanging with some friends, walking, and best of all grandmothering.
Today we got up at the normal time.  We needed to be in TX by 10:30 for Mack's 4th birthday party.  We made it to the Pumpkin Patch Farm just in time.  The kids were feeding Texas longhorns, goats, and sheep.  The kids found a litter of kittens and they were mauled.  The birthday boy became fond of one and named it Marshmallows.  I asked him if it was because the kitten was soft and he looked at me kind of funny and said no it was because he was white.  Okay!  Set me straight.
Then they went on a hayride, which was pretty long.  Then we ate.  Everyone helped themselves to pbj's, chips, apples, and cookies.  Then Mack opened some presents.  This went on for a while......
Sara, his Mom, provided straw hats and bandannas to add to the farm theme.  Boys got mustaches and girls got cloth roses.  Great birthday for Mack.  Happy Birthday.

Mack and Marshmallow
We stopped by Cheddar's on the way home for dinner.  Can you say the best onion rings!  Oh boy did we enjoy them!  Now we are home and I am fighting sleep and Ken is watching a couple of channels.

The To Do List

Happy Birthday to Kevin today!  He is now 30!  WooHoo!  He has grown up to be  a wonderful man, I am proud to call him my son.  I love you Kevin.
I am taking a personal day today.  I got up with Ken and got busy tackling my long lists of things I wanted to do today.  I started out busy.  Then I took a break to have lunch with Jane.  I came home determined to continue. My outdoor project was just starting and the thunder roared and a few drops started so I picked it up and moved it to the safety of the porch overhang.  Then it quit by the time I got everything washed and put up!
Packing up the paint area.
This is where everything is going!
So, I moved on to the craft studio.  I am still working on packing things up so Ken can get in there and do some repair and remodeling.  I am throwing some things out as I go.  It is hard to do that.  I packed several boxes and moved more stuff out and I got hot!  So I am taking a break.
Added the John Deere backing and got it quilted.

Rusty, the big red dog, & my companion.

I got the baby farm animals finished and delivered to the new momma and baby at out Mother's Day celebration with sorority last night.

Rusty just follows me around getting into things or barking at all the noises he hears.  It is never quiet here!  Janet, my sister, will be up tomorrow from Texas.  She is having pictures made with T.J's family and will spend the night with us and then go watch a niece finish a marathon on Sunday in OKC.  Rats, I cancelled the cleaning lady because the pantry and kitchen are all torn up.
I have over half my list accomplished, but I have a few more things I can get done.  I will close and get back to work.  I hope Ken will have time to put the kitchen back together this weekend.  It will sure make it easier to host bunco on Tuesday Night!

So Busy

The Pantry

Kitchen Counter

Table in the dining room
Here is one of Ken's projects.  We had wallpaper in the pantry which we decided we didn't want anymore.  I voted for take it down and paint it, but Ken liked the bead board.  So bead board it is.  I am not sure if it will be painted or stained.  One wall is already up,  The one that has the ladder up against it in the first picture.  I am excited about the possibilities that are coming our way.  Ken is so creative and can really listen to me ramble and then incorporate what I need and what I think I want into just the perfect thing for me.
Finished quilt top
I have been slowly making these appliques from the new farm babies disc I got.  Tonight I put them together!  These are so cute.  Pictures aren't close enough to tell, but I also embroidered the name on each square.  I have a cute John Deere print to go on the back.  I hope to get it quilted tomorrow.  Then I will be able to give it to the new mama Thursday night at our sorority's Mother's Day dinner.  I ordered this program to make something for her.  The program came in way after her showers, but I thought they were so cute.
Twelve days of school left!  My class graduated today.  It was an exciting day.  Tomorrow I am getting a new student.  I just can't believe it.  I will spend lots of time screening this child.  I hope the school he/she comes from sends good records.
