New Week

It is Sunday.  We have been experiencing computer issues.  We had phone problems and Ken called and took care of it.  They put in a temporary line.  Now the line wasn't buried and it ran down the alley. Hmm!  Surprise the traffic disconnected the line.  Well, finally yesterday they came back out and connected the line again, so we have phone and internet!  Hurray
We celebrated Thanksgiving on Saturday.  All four girls and their families made it home, none of the boys were able to come.  The house was full and noisy and we loved every second.  Ken's dad and my sister joined us also.  We had lots to be thankful for.  We had lots of good food, plenty of fun, and lots of joy.
My sister stayed and we sat and watched movies with a fire in the fireplace.  We relaxed and vegged out until it was time to eat again.  Mmm Mmm!  Just as good the second go round!
We went to church this morning, then we ate at McAlister's, and then my sister had to leave.  Before we had time to blink Trina and her family were here to help us decorate the house.  In about two hours the seven of us got the place Christmasfied.  I think the main tree looks great!  Now, I need to get the presents wrapped and under the tree!  That will keep me busy!

I went to school for a bit to get ready for the week.  I needed to pick out some activities and make copies.  I am ready.  It is getting close to report card time again.  The time in between screening goes fast.
I picked up my sewing machine. I haven't had time to do any sewing with the holiday.  I plan to get right on some sewing projects.  Life is more enjoyable when I get to spend some time in the sewing room.   All of the shopping I have done has been crammed in the sewing room so I will be happy to get them wrapped and out of there.

Turkey Time!

We are in turkey mode here at the Abel house. We have this down to a science. We did this Sunday for church dinner and we are doing it again tonight for Ken's work dinner. I cut up onion and celery to partially fill a medium size bowl. I also hard boil 6 eggs and cook about 30ish biscuits. Ken bakes the cornbread and puts the turkey in the roaster before we go to bed. We get to wake to the smell of turkey. Mmmm! Then we get busy. Ken has the most to do! He takes the bird out, takes some of the broth out, dumps in the crumbled cornbread, biscuits, diced onions and celery, and seasonings. I am peeling the eggs, pre-warming the crock pot, and waiting to taste to see if there is enough flavor. Ken gets the meat off the bones and it is time to start heating the broth for the gravy. Now I get to add flour and if I don't add it right the gravy ends up lumpy! Not sure how that works, but I just go with it. Ken finishes up the gravy and we load it up! All of this happens in about 45 minutes or less. I had a great day today! Two of my grandsons, Oran and Mack, went to school with me for the day. They were a delight. They were very well behaved and my class loved having them as guests! I am on the iPad again. I haven't had time to check out the computer. I want to get on and find a new computer. I will have some time over Thanksgiving. I talked to Charme' tonight and she is doing better except for the headaches. She will go to the doctor in the morning. I hope she gets some relief. She has off until Monday. I pray she will have her strength back and feel ready to teach by then. I am so thankful to be alive! Life is grand!

Nails

Wow!It has been a few days. I have been without a computer and I am trying to use Ken's iPad. There have been a couple of attempts that somehow I couldn't get to post. I got the computer back, but I haven't had time to get on it. The whole crocheting activity has made me so happy that I spend a lot of time doing it. My friend, Charme is now home. Her kidneys are doing better. She is going to take off the next two days so she will rest and get her strength back. I will miss her, but I am glad she will come back 100%. last Saturday I spent a little time on me. I had a pedicure and a manicure. I got the gel polish hoping it would keep my nails from splitting. In the first week both nails have split. But the polish looks good! It will stay nice for two weeks. Hmm!

Hats

I love the fall days. It is just a bit chilly in the morning, but you know it will be so nice in the afternoon. Then the wind might stir and you can see the beautiful colored leaves swirling around or fluttering to the ground. It makes me feel like there is time to stop a minute and take a breath then reflect. My teaching friend that I refer to a lot has been out the last two days and it seems like two weeks. It sounds like it could really be serious. Her husband took her to the ER because she couldn't keep anything down and was having trouble walking. She was transported by ambulance to OKC with concerns about her liver shutting down. She and her family and medical care givers are in my prayers. I finished another hat tonight. It is okay. I thought I would really like it, but not so much. I have finished four hats. I think they aren't great, but maybe getting better. I enjoy doing it. My sewing machine is in getting cleaned and adjusted so...a girl's got to do something. Good news today. I talked to the computer guy and he has recovered most of the data and pictures on the computer that crashed! Hooray! He is getting an external drive to back it up and is getting the computer to the factory settings. I hope I will find the important things were recovered. Life is good and good things keep happening! Even if I don't always like what is happening I have to remember there is a bigger picture and things happen in God's timeline not mine!

Printer Sale

2 hats I finished.
Sunday was started out with the Bisonettes singing our church service.  We had a wonderful concert.  Ken and I really enjoyed the Bisonettes.  Then we came home and relaxed most of the day.  He just left for work.  He is still getting Christmas put up at the mall.  So I am home alone, but not lonely.  I have so many projects that I am always busy.  I finished the purple hat today.
I may try to make another bag.  We'll see if there is enough time this week.  I think I might have some fabrics that will make up cute.

Bags for the auction.
Charme', my teaching partner is sick.  She has a sinus infection and isn't able to come in tomorrow.  Last week Laura was out with a sinus infection.  I think Laura is feeling better, I hope Charme' is feeling better soon too.
I was moving stuff around in the sewing room and I found a box of yarn.  I will take most of it to church on Wednesday, but there is some I am keeping to make hats out of.
I lost a boy on Friday.  Now I am down to 19.  I think we have had several children enroll in the last week or so.  It probably won't be long before I am back up to 20.  This is a fun time of year with all the fun things you can do with Thanksgiving.
I am going to start another hat.  Maybe I will get it done tonight.  I would be excited to take 3 finished hats in on Wednesday.  This will be a busy week.  I hope to find out something on the computer on Tuesday.  The yearly auction is Thursday.
I got an e-mail from Walmart showing the Black Friday sales.  There was an hp printer on sale for $19.00.  Wow!  I couldn't believe it.  Especially since I am in the market for a new printer.  The only problem is it isn't wireless.  However, a wireless one was on sale for $39.99 I think.  Now if I can find a good deal on a computer.

Good Visit

I've had a busy week.  Part of it was no time to post and part of it was no computer.  I finally brought the computer home from school, so here I am posting.  First the printer died, then the computer wouldn't turn on, and now it has been at the fix-it shop since Tuesday without any progress. I am suppose to check back with him on Tuesday.  I just hope he is able to get my data off the computer.
I have been sewing every chance I get.  My machine started skipping stitches.  Today I ran to the city and put it in to be cleaned and adjusted.  Might be done on Wednesday.  The sooner I get it in the sooner I will get it out.
I did go to the oncology doctor on Wednesday.  It was a good visit.  Ken was able to get away so we could both hear the same stuff.  I will go back for my next visit in 4 months.
I am really tired, so good night, sleep tight.

Sewing

Saturday was quite exciting in Oklahoma!  Ken got home from work in the wee hours and asked me if I had felt the earthquake.  No I slept through it.  But, I got the chance to experience an earthquake Saturday evening.  It wasn't scary.  Ken and I heard the low rumble sound and then we started feeling the shaking.  About the time we figured out what it was we were like wow this is really strong.  Hmm! What should we do?  Then as fast as it began it was over.  We have pots hanging over the stove that were banging.  No damage at our house.  We drove downtown and saw where some bricks fell off the top of Neal's Furniture building.  I haven't been out to St. Greg's, but it is reported that one tower fell and the other is leaning.
Bag for auction on Nov. 17th.
The other exciting part of Saturday were the wins for OU and the most exciting OSU game.
Hat I crocheted (finally)!
I did some sewing while I watched the games and got a couple of projects completed and worked on.

Throw I am working on.
I was looking in the pantry and I noticed a lot of packet stuff.  So I decided I should start making it up.  So, I got the sour cream and real mayo needed for the first packet.  BLT dip.  Ken didn't like it.  I thought it was okay.
The hat looks okay (not nearly as good as Kayla's crocheting).  I have started a second hat.  I am using a different pattern.  We shall see.  The hats will be sold (I hope) to support the Haiti Music Camp our church sponsors.  The bag will go into the auction that sorority is having on Nov. 17th at Federal National Bank.  The proceeds will go to make Christmas possible for about 8 children.

It is My Ball!

More drama in the classroom.  One of the boys from Wednesday's drama has been suspended for two days.  The classroom was a bit nicer, because I felt like we were safer.  However, the other boys made up for him being gone with inappropriate language, lots of tattling, writing on the carpet, and a very high noise level.  One of the boys will go eeeee (or some other variation) in a high pitched voice repeatedly! I ask him to stop he does until he blinks and then he does it again!  All day long.
Last night I met the sorority girls at an Italian place.  Fratelli's has some good pizza and other things. We met for our Thanksgiving dinner.  It was yummy!
I am still trying to convince the dog that my yarn ball is not his!  He just sits at my feet staring at me while I crochet.  I am over halfway done now with this hat.  I am very tired so I had to quit.
I sewed a little bit, crocheted a little bit, and let Rusty, the big red dog, out and in, out and in.  He is out and I am waiting for him to come back in so I can go to bed.  I can barely keep my eyes open, but as soon as I get upstairs I will be wide awake.   How can that be???  He is barking, so I will call him in so I can go to bed.
Have a blessed weekend.

Stealing

Today seemed very long.  I had two boys today that were very loud and disruptive for the best part of the day.  I think the cold front and the rain brought on the disruptive behaviors.  Unfortunately these two boys behavior started another two boys acting up and feeding off the two boy's actions.  Things calmed down a bit when I sent one of the boys to the office.  He wasn't back in the room five minutes and he was in a kicking fist fight with the other disruptive boy.  So back to the office with both boys.  Then I noticed how full the first boy's pocket was.  He then pulled eight toys out from my sorting bucket.  Hmm!  So, now we have stealing to add to his list as we call Mom.  Boy number two went on to music as we called boy number one's mom.  As the kids left music boy number two hit another boy in the face.  So, boy number two goes back to the office.  Boy number three, the one that got hurt, went to the office to see the nurse and get ice.  We went to recess and boy number three felt better in no time.  Then as we were going out to the bus boy number three got hit again!  Those are just the highlights!
I went to a workshop right after school. Then I met Ken at church for dinner.  I went home and he went to work.  So, I am going to once again try to figure out the hat pattern Kayla sent me.  This will be my 3rd session trying to crochet the hat.  I wish I had Kayla's talent!

Fire!

I have really observant neighbors.  I called Ken's dad and asked him to come over early so he could eat with Ken before he went to work.  Everyone left by 6:30.  Our house is chilly, so just like last night I started a fire.  I carried wood in, got a fire started, and just got comfortable when the doorbell rang.  Rusty, the big red dog, went into welcome mode.  He was sounding a very loud welcome and I had a hard time holding him back in all his excitement!  Well, I had noticed some colored lights, so my interest is peeked and I am wondering what is going on.  At the door are a couple of firemen.  After pulling Rusty down and back, maneuvering the door open while holding on to him, I ask them if I can help them.  They asked me if I had a fire in my fireplace and I noticed a fireman coming around from the south of my house.  I answered yes and he said someone had called in a fire here.  Our city dollars at work.  Then I worried that since it was a false alarm we would be charged because they started to leave and they came back up to the house and asked my name.
