Chocolate Super Powers!

Okay it is my birthday and I used that as an excuse when I ate the second piece of fudge. My birthday person had a nice vegetable spread and fudge with a toffee topping.  Yummy!  Oh I was bad before lunch, I realized 4 pieces of fudge found its way into me.  (I enjoyed each yummy bite.)  I was starving before lunch.  At 9:30 when Charme' and I had breaks we were deciding on a good place to go for lunch.  Thursday is our day out for lunch.  I love Thursdays.  Even though we are next door to each other it seems like we never get to talk, so that is our catch up time.  Thank you Ann I enjoyed the card.  Thank you Laura, the pumpkin candles smell so good and the brownies are wonderful!!  They are so good and yummy, it is almost like eating chocolate syrup.  Oh so good.  I love chocolate!  So before lunch I ate 4 pieces of fudge and 2 BIG brownies.  I had my favorite sandwich avocado bacon chicken on wheat with red onion dressing.  Oh so delicious!  Then I had another brownie when my kids went to p.e.  T hat is when the super powers kicked in.  Laura has a student that is fairly non-verbal.  She was crying a lot today for no apparent reason and would not talk to Laura.  So, I took a crack at her. I made her look at me and I started with yes or no questions and got her to answer me then I found out she doesn't like to cry, she wasn't hurt, and she thought Laura could read her mind.  She went back to her room and started working and actually talked to Laura when asked questions.  Yeah!  Score one for super powers compliments of chocolate!  Woo Hoo!
Good wishes have come my way.  I heard from my mom on the way to school, I heard from Haley  while I was at the dr. with my husband.  Thanks for the unlimited texting, I am really getting into texting.  I got birthday greetings from Lindsay, a granddaughter, and her dad Derrick when I got home.  On my back porch there was a package from Kathy.  Pumpkin vanilla is a comforting scent.  I love it.  Kayla called as we were about to go out.  While we were out my sister, Janet, and Austin called.  We went to a silent auction, dinner, and a live auction.  We bid on one item it was about the 54th item and the crowd had really thinned out quite a bit.  We were successful!  We got a 30 yard dumpster!  Yahoo!  We were going to rent one next week to hold the old roof as we roof the house.  We got it for $250.00, which saved us about $100.00.  How about that!  We saw Karri and her husband and they were really lucky and won several silent bids and one in the live auction which I understand was actually a wave at someone!  Oopsie!  Then Cassie called since we have been home.  I am very blessed.  Mom the necklace is as gorgeous as the shirt and jacket.  I love them.  I had so many happy birthdays from the people at school.  I work with very caring people.  Thank you everyone, I feel loved and blessed by all the people who care.  It has been a great day!

Crocheted Flowers

Yesterday was a good day.  Today was a good day also, well if you don't count the screaming that went on in my room.  It was a good day in terms of getting everything done that I wanted to, no one was hurt, and I didn't lose anyone.  My student that went back to pr-k started today in pre-k and he had a good day.  Another student came in late and his mom has a hard time with quick good-byes.  He knows just how to push her guilty button, and he does it very well.  Finally, with the help of the counselor, he was in the room and Mom was leaving.  He was in the room alright and everyone could hear him wailing.  He wanted his Mommy at the top of his lungs.  Nothing would make him quiet down, so we listened to him for about an hour.  Then it subsided to a just crying until he fell asleep.  He slept until it was time to go to lunch.  Right before he came a girl had started crying because a boy had colored a picture for her and she considered it scribbling and she didn't want it.  I couldn't convince her he was trying to be nice.  She cried for a long time too!  So we had stereo!  Some days are just so much fun.  I am going back tomorrow for more.

I went to the ladies group after dinner tonight at church.  Laura tried to help me crochet flowers.  They were suppose to have eight petals.  My first one had nine and the second had seven!  If you average them they were right on.  Laura finished 6-8 in no time even with me needing lots of help.  I think I need to find something else to do.  Kayla has some cute hat patterns.  She made some cute hats, maybe I could do those.  So, I plan on asking Kayla for a copy of the patterns.

Sewing

Not much is going on in my life.  Thursday was parent teacher conferences.  I had two no shows.  One of the students was absent on Thursday so I wasn't surprised.  I was glad when they were over.  One of my parents decided her son would be better off if he went back to pre-k.  What a surprise!  Some teachers and my sorority sisters all went to the movies that night, but I was to tired.
Friday was great!  Ken got up and went to work and I stayed in bed, but not for long.  I did sleep until I woke up.  That always makes me feel better.  Then I cleaned up a bit around the house and started sewing.  When the new cleaning lady came I went to school for about four hours.  I got some stuff caught up and ready for this week.
Saturday, I worked in the sewing room.  Ken was working on a rent house.  I enjoyed the day.  I made good progress on the nursery bedding.  Then we went to the play, Little Shop of Horrors.  It was good!
Ken and I went to church.  There was another good guest speaker.  Then I went to Kohl's, Walmart, and Hancock's.  I sewed some more and then I made pizza.
Today went so smoothly.  We had a good day today.  I worked on the move to pre-k for one of my kiddos.  That will happen on Wednesday.  I hate to lose him.  The fear of the unknown.  No matter what you have you could get worse!
Rusty, the big red dog, has been very busy lately.  Over the weekend he devoured about half a dozen muffins that I accidentally forgot out on the counter.  Agh!  Just now I caught him with an earphone thingy.  Will he ever grow up??!!

Purple Week

Tuesday was parent teacher conferences.  I had two no shows.  I was pretty happy with my conferences.  The last one was at 6:15, my plans were to scoot out a bit early.  Well, that conference ended at 7:24!  Wow!  That plan didn't happen.  Thursday we will have the rest of the conferences.  I hope I have a good turnout and productive conferences.
I haven't had much time to really think about the new hair color, so I haven't decided if I like it.  Initially, I think it was to dark or too red.  Hmm!  I guess I will live with it for a bit.
I am still voting on my Donor's Choose project.
This is purple week.  I love purple week!  Tomorrow is our Friday.  Because of the two evenings we conferenced, we get Friday off.  So, tomorrow is a favorite day because I don't have duty!  We also go out to eat.  It is nice to get out occasionally.  I am looking forward to a three day weekend.
I sewed on the curtains for the nursery.  It won't take long to finish them.  I will get that done this weekend.  The quilt top is close.  I hope to get this almost done over the weekend.  I also need to put together something for her baby shower.
Ken and I went to see The Help.  We loved it.  It ran the gambit of emotions.  I was mad, sad, happy, and proud all at different times.  One of my favorite parts was You is special, you is smart, and you is good!  I wish all parents would convey that to their children.

So Not Medium Caramel Brown

Finally, it is pirate week.  I love love love pirate week!  Today is the national speak like a pirate day.  Randy Lauderdale, who is another teacher at our school, does a great pirate.  The kids loved listening to him read.  Believe it or not there is a translation program to translate English into piratese.  We had fun with that!  I also have a new pirate flannel board and a new floor puzzle that add to the funWe made pirates today, tomorrow a pirate ship, then a treasure map, and finally a treasure chest!  What a fun week!
My sister, Janet, called and wanted us to go to Canton with her.  It was pretty wonderful not to have to worry before making a decision if that was a treatment Friday.  It has been a big check mark checked off!
I am feeling pretty good.  I am tired, but I think my energy is coming back.  I colored my hair with a light brown and it seemed too light, but it was a better feeling than gray.  So, and this is why I almost didn't color my hair, it was time to color again.  I chose the color medium caramel brown.  It sure is dark and red.  It is not quite what I thought I was getting, but it is what it is!
I am still voting online for my project every day at limeadesforlearning.com.  There is still time to vote for it.  Pocket Charts Are Centers Too!
I am all caught up on All My Children and now I am working on Drop Dead Diva. Ken just said dinner is ready, got to go.

Lab Work

I was so excited Monday morning to explain the new trace and color center to the kids.  A couple of kids visited this center and they seemed to enjoy it.  The kids were at centers and then they came over and asked if I had any more papers for them.  Wow!  I am thinking they have really enjoyed this center!  I go to get more paper for them to trace with and they say, but there isn't anything on them. What! I look closer and they have cut up 9 of the eleven papers they are suppose to be tracing!  I am in shock.  I have been using this kind of center for a long time and that has never happened.  Fortunately, my friend Charme' likes this type of center as well.  I was able to copy hers.
Dinner at church tonight.  Yeah!  I think there is a sewing group after dinner.  I want to find out more about it and maybe join it.
I went to the workers comp doctor on the exposure incident that happened a few weeks ago.  They gav me a tetnus shot and tried o get blood from two different places.  No luck.  So I now have to go to the hospital lab.  I will have to give blood 3 more times to give the diseases time incubate.  So in about 6 months this will be over.
I am very tired. I am off to bed.

Pirate Day

Monday is always such an exciting day because it sets the tone for the week or unit.  We had a fairly good day until the chair incident.  I am certainly having my fair share of children getting hurt.  I have a few that just don't understand boundaries, but we work on it each day!
We didn't have enough people to play bunco tonight.  Rats!
I got a trace and color center set up to use this week.  The kids tried it out today and they liked it.  I plan to have it open for most weeks.  The student traces a picture, which is good for fine motor skills.  We will be having conferences two evenings next week.  I am trying to get them set up and trying to decide what to go over.  Then we will have Friday off.  Next week we will be doing pirate activities.  It is so much fun!  Sept. 19th is speak like a pirate day.
I went to walk today at lunch.  I felt pretty good about fitting in some exercise.  I am planning on doing this more often, but then things get in the way.  I will work around this problem!

Working

Saturday was such fun.  Ken and I met Jane, Pat, Diana, Cleo, and Mary Ann for breakfast at Boomarang.  Then Ken and Pat had other things to do and the five of us were off to garage sales.  I found a platter that goes with my Christmas dishes for just $1.00.  Wow!  What a good buy.  I was happy.  Then, I found the cutest little desk/dressing table piece of furniture.  It is well made and the best part - it was only $7.00.  A little reworking and someone will have a great desk this Christmas.  There were many other purchases during the morning, but those were mine.
I finished the crib skirt, the bumper pads, and I have started the quilt.  I have 6 rows ready to sew together.  That will go together quickly one night this week.  Then I have the cushions and the curtains.  I want to get this done before Cali arrives.
I went to school and got a few things ready for this coming week.  I was able to catch a few things up.  I got the newsletter and some parent teacher conference notes typed and copied.  There is always more to do.
When I got home Ken had a plan for dinner.  Baked potato, steak, broccoli, and homemade ice cream.  I sure do love my thoughtful husband.  I am so lucky he likes to cook.
I am tired, but I am looking forward to a great week.  The Lord and I are speaking regularly about my class and I am trying with his help to be kind.  I have 13 very active boys, some of which are never still.  Some of the same boys find weapons in any and all school supplies.  We are still learning.  This too shall pass!

Wow Wee!

Yeah!  Finally!  I am free, no more every three weeks!  WaHoo!  Treatment is over!  I am so glad this day is here!  My journey is coming to a close!  Can you believe it??? Thank the Lord!  Thanks to everyone who has kept me in their thoughts, prayed for me, and gave me support.  It was a team effort with the Lord leading the way - we made it!
I will go back to the oncologist November 11th.  I will find out about anymore NVG tests, appointments, removing the port, and the way we will stay vigilant from here on out.
I left school early.  I came home aftr treatment and fell asleep for a bit.  I am awake now and it is time to go to bed.  Ann you had some great quotes for me today.  I really enjoyed them.  Thank you for always remembering.
Today, we had biting, kicking in the privates, hitting, and some pooping.  I think their was more than one pooper, but the suspected poopee would not admit to it.  There was popcorn for the first time today and the kids were happy!  It is getting easier.
I hope to get some sewing done this weekend.  I have so so many projects.  I am going to get these drugs out of my system and I am going to get some energy back.  I am!

14 Out Of 10

What a day!  I had biting, kicking, pinching, and hitting in the classroom today.  Is the weather changing or what?  Agh!  Sad to say, but it was actually one of our better days!  It will get better!  It WILL get better!  We will start to make progress.  We are actually gelling a bit.
We ate dinner at church.  Good meal.  I love that we eat at church, it is so nice not to have to cook (I mean Ken doesn't have to cook) or make a decision of what or where we eat.
I am making the nursery bedding for a teacher at my school.  I have been sewing this evening.  I made 15 of the 24 ties that I am making for the bumper pads.  I hope to work some more on this over the weekend and finish them up.  Then I will start on the quilt, then the curtains, and the chair cushions.  I have got to get this done before the baby comes!
I am so excited about this treatment on Friday.  I think it will be the last one.  I will find out for sure on Friday.  So I am guardedly optimistic there won't be any gliches.
Tomorrow is our lunch out day.  It is so nice to go out together with people you enjoy being with.  I really like the people I work with each day.
Ann asked me at dinner if I liked the thought of the day, I hadn't seen it at school.  The thought is 14 out of 10 people like chocolate.  Wow!  I'll say that sounds about right.

Treatment

I had a good day today.  My students are coming together as a class.  They are getting use to the routine.  There are some rough spots still, but I can see so much change.  I am encouraged!
Friday will be my last treatment.  Yeah!  I can't wait!  My last treatment is sooo big!  I will have my last treatment.  I will need another surgery to have the port removed.  I think I will also have one more NVG test.  I still have 4 and a half years taking the pill.  All is good.  Life is good even better than good.

Trains

I know we had a surprise birthday party for Ken's dad last Saturday, but yesterday was his actual birthday.  We had dinner at our house with Ken's dad and sister.  Then we watched the OU game.  We were rooting for them and they won.  I was also watching the score on the OSU game.  A good day for Oklahoma, both teams won.  All our children were happy with the wins!
I made the easiest peanut butter cookies to eat.  They are so good - bonus!  This is the recipe:  one cup of sugar, one cup of peanut butter, and one egg.  Mix it all together and put a spoonful on the baking sheet.  I crisscrossed and smushed the ball with a fork dipped in sugar.  Then bake it at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes.  It makes about 2 dozen regular size cookies.
Today we met Cassie and Trina and their families plus Kenny's two boys at a place out in the country called Loco Trains.  It is a neat place with lots of train tracks and trains that are one eighth scale.  So we got to ride the trains with our grandsons.  It is a nice ride over bridges, through a tunnel, and it is very fun!  It is only open on the first Sunday of the month.  Ken is very into trains and enjoyed this a lot.  He got a tour and found out he can become a member for a small fee.  Then he can come out and work on them and after a bit he could even drive the trains!  I found out we can make arrangements to go there for a field trip.  Hmm!  I will talk to the girls in the neighborhood on Tuesday.  I think the kids will love it.  There is a playground and we could take our lunch.  The weather was so nice today to be out riding a train.  I enjoyed seeing the grandsons and our granddaughter Katelynn.  Boys and trains, no matter the age boys are fascinated by them.
Peyton, Ken, and Mack on the train.
Peyton, me, Oran, and Mack on the red car.

Yesterday I got eight burp rags done and delivered.  One thing off the list.  The crib skirt is completed.  Two things off the list.  I have a good start on the bumper pads, but need to ask Karri a few questions about the ties, so I have to wait until I can talk to her.  I got the cinnamon rolls started.  The dough is in the fridge.  In the morning I will half it, roll it out, put the cinnamon mixture on it, roll it up, slice it, bake it, make the icing, ice them, and eat them.  Ken just said the dough is trying to get out of the bowl.  Yikes!

Back Yard Guest

Still having some issues with the computer.  I have had a couple of good days.  Last night was sorority.  I enjoyed getting together with the girls.  Our first meeting is usually so loud, we are all happy to see each other and trying to catch up with everyone.  Pat was a great hostess and served a dessert called death by chocolate.  To die for! No pun intended.  Last night a couple of the girls, (Jane and Goldie) were talking about lunch on Friday and I wrangled an invite.  So I went out to eat today.  Yummy!  It was a nice break in the day.  Thanks, girls!  It was good to see you Linda.
Two mornings this week we have seen a baby armadillo in our back yard.  Eww!  I had a hard time deciding what animal it was, because I hadn't seen one with it's feet on the ground.  Ha Ha!
Well, I sure have quite a few sewing projects that need my attention.  I have some burp rags in process and an old quilt to get a baby quilt salvaged out of it for an expectant mom.  A couple of burp rags for our oldest daughter for the previous expectant mom.  A crib skirt almost made for a teacher friend, plus the rest of the crib things, curtains, and a chair to recover.  I have a set of place mats to make.  A couple of throws to quilt and a baby quilt to quilt.  Plus numerous quilts I want to do for fun!  I hope to stitch some of these projects up.  Ha Ha!
I also am about to the end of a book in a series of books I am reading.  I kind of would like to make some cinnamon rolls this weekend.  If you know me it isn't like me to desire to cook at all.  Maybe that won't really happen, because I am not Suzy Homemaker. (Dah!)
I am getting on limeadesforlearning.com each day to vote for my donors choose project - Pocket Charts Are Centers Too!  You can too!  I have been thinking of another project to submit and I have started writing on it.  I also had a great idea for a grant, but I forgot it.  Which irritates me so much!
Catch up on the shower upstairs.  The tile is down now, but it isn't ready to shower in as of now.  Maybe soon!
